MARKHAM BLUE BOX TRANSITION JANUARY 1, 2026
Effective January 1, 2026, the residential blue box program is evolving to a new standardized system that is fully funded and operated by producers of recyclable materials. The City has also now removed the blue recycling boxes from community mailbox sites because they were frequently misused. Markham residents can stop receiving unwanted ad-mail altogether by placing a note inside their mailbox and instead download favorite digital flyers online. To learn more, click below.

ONTARIO HONDA DEALERS INDY AT MARKHAM UPDATE
Announced in September 2025, a new partnership between The City of Markham, Green Savoree Toronto ULC, and IndyCar will bring the iconic race to Markham Centre for the next 5 years, starting August 14 to 16, 2026. As part of preparations to host next year’s exciting Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham event, Phase 1 of construction at Unionville GO Station is now complete with 318 parking spots reopened. YORK REGIONAL POLICE MAKE ARRESTS IN RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTERS
Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged two suspects and recovered stolen property in connection with an ongoing investigation into daytime residential break and enters across York Region.
