This annual event is a celebration of the local community, featuring live music, local arts and craft vendors, delicious food, retails shops, community performance groups, and a wide range of activities for people of all ages. Markham Cycling Day is an annual cycling event, started in 2008 and hosted by City of Markham. It is a great way to explore Markham on bicycles with your friends or families. FREE: CANADA DAY COMMUNITY MURAL, SAT., JUNE 27 AND SUN., JUNE 28, 10 AM TO 4 PM, VARLEY ART GALLERY
FREE: Celebrate Canada Day at the Varley Art Gallery by contributing to a collaborative community mural. Visitors of all ages are invited to take part in creating a shared artwork using a variety of materials, with the piece evolving throughout the day. For more information, click below.

BARKHAM FESTIVAL, SAT., JUNE 13 – SUN., JUNE 14, MARKHAM MUSEUM
Barkham 2026 will transform 25 acres of scenic, dog-friendly space at Markham Museum into the ultimate pet-lover’s paradise. Visitors can browse an incredible selection of vendors offering unique products and services for both dogs and humans, indulge in delicious eats from food trucks, and take part in exciting games and activities throughout the weekend. LET’S KEEP OUR WILDLIFE, WILD!
Humans are not the only ones that live in Markham. Foxes, coyotes, rats and other wildlife can be spotted from time to time. Residents can take measures to ensure a peaceful co-existence with our wild neighbours. Don’t approach – Don’t feed – Don’t take pictures. YORK REGIONAL POLICE PILOTS DRONE AS FIRST RESPONDER PROGRAM
With the ability to be activated in seconds and arrive at a scene in minutes, the drones will often be the first responder at the scene, providing the ability for pilots to see what is happening on the ground, and to relay critical information to dispatchers and attending officers.
