SUMMER OF SAFETY SERIES – AUGUST 10, 21 (weather permitting)

The Summer of Safety Series hosted by the Markham Fire and Emergency Services continues with two dates in August for their public education open houses at fire stations across the city to promote fire prevention and emergency preparedness. These free events will include interactive displays, informational booths, a BBQ with hot dogs and beverages while supplies last, and exciting prizes and giveaways. MARKHAM’S PARK AND PLAY FUN TOUR – AUGUST 7, 14, 21, 28 (weather permitting)

The Park and Play Fun Tour, a free Summer program for children between the ages of four and 12 that travels to community parks across the city, continues throughout August. The program offers a wide range of fun and engaging activities, including giant board games, mini sports, inflatable ride-on animals and much more. MOSQUITOS IN YORK REGION TEST POSITIVE FOR WEST NILE VIRUS

The Regional Municipality of York monitors West Nile virus activity by setting mosquito traps and testing for West Nile Virus. To date, two mosquito traps have recently tested positive for West Nile virus. A mosquito trap at Kennedy Road and 16th Avenue in the City of Markham and a second trap at Jane Street and Highway 7 in the City of Vaughan are the first positive traps of the year.
