COMMUNITY SAFETY

FIREWORKS REGULATIONS

Keep Markham safe by following fireworks rules. Setting off fireworks is permitted only four times per year: the day before Victoria Day, on Victoria Day, the day before Canada Day, and on Canada Day. Markham’s Bylaw Services will be providing enhanced enforcement at parks and community centre parking lots throughout the City during these times. Outside of these dates, a permit must be obtained from the City. Fireworks are only permitted on private property with the consent of the owner. Fireworks are prohibited on any City property, including parks and sportsfields. Click below for more information.

UNAUTHORIZED CAR RALLIES ARE PROHIBITED IN MARKHAM

Taking place at local plazas without authorization, car rallies disrupt patrons and public safety.  Markham’s Bylaw Services provide enforcements for parking infractions and noise bylaw violations, acting in a supporting role to assist York Regional Police who enforce the law in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, the Trespass to Property Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada, in partnership with plaza owners.

For any questions about vehicular activities on highways and concerns about car rallies, please contact York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423. For any questions about vehicular activities on private properties and City properties, please contact Bylaw Services at 905-477-5530.
